All-Ireland title eludes brave ’Comer

AN ELUSIVE first ever girls' All-Ireland title, for either club or school, proved a bridge too far for Comer's U14 team as they lost out in a thrilling final to Kestrels of Portarlington by 5 points.

Having opened up as though they were going to prove too strong for the Laois side, Comer were gradually hauled back and overtaken in the final three minutes when their exploits over the weekend finally caught up on them.

’Comer and Waterford share spoils

'COMER travelled to Waterford to take on the local AOL club in boys' U12 and U14 and after lots of excitement they shared the spoils.

'Comer needed to win the U12 game to take the league race right down to the last game against Old Leighlin.

This seemed unlikely when AOL led 20-11 midway through the third quarter. However a very spirited response from 'Comer saw them hold their hosts scoreless for the remainder of the game while they gradually chipped away at the Waterford lead.
