Kilkenny accident victim is named

THE Kilkennyman who died tragically on Wednesday morning has been named.

He is John Bailey, formerly of Assumption Place in Kilkenny City. Mr Bailey was 57.

He was riding a motorbike from his Balbriggan home to Dublin Airport when he was involved in a collision with a motor car.

The accident happened shortly before 8am and the Mr Bailey was rushed to Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown where he was pronounced dead.

Mr Bailey has been living in Dublin with his Kilkenny-born wife, the former Colette Frawley, for many years. He was a regular visitor to his Kilkenny family.

He was booked on a flight to Spain where he was to visit a friend for a few days.

He is survived by his mother Mrs Nellie Bailey, a resident of Strathmore Lodge Nursing Home, Callan, sister Mrs Marie Delaney and brothers Declan and Liam.

Remains will be removed from his home on Friday at 10am to The Church of Saints  Peter and Paul,  Balbriggan.  After 11am Requiem Mass, burial will be at Ardla Cemetery  outside Balbriggan.
