Loughboy group going backwards to go forward

A DEDICATED Kilkenny group are to go backwards in a bid to go forward with their community work.

The Loughboy Area Resource Centre in St Patrick’s Parish hold a ’Seventies Night in Langton’s, John Street, Kilkenny on Friday, November 27 in a bid to carry on their childcare and other services in the face of Government cutbacks and redundancies.

The ‘Seventies Night of entertainment will feature hits and popular numbers from that era and making sure that those who turn back the clock really enjoy themselves will be Soundz Proof and DJ Johnny Jukebox.

Part of the fundraising evening will include a leg wax where brave boys from the Chillax Youth Group and Kilkenny Gardai will endure pain for community gain.

The evening the baby of the Loughboy Resource Centre Childcare Service who provide a Pre-School and After School service for 50 children in Loughboy and environs.

The group’s funding has been drastically cut and they have had three staff redundancies this year. However, the resilient group are determined that childcare services should not suffer.

On that score they are calling on parents and friends to support the fundraising night. Tickets are €10 and as well as supporting a good cause, those who lend their support should enjoy a great night of fun and dancing.

There will be free finger food and a raffle with lots of prizes generously donated by local business.
