Public service workers strike today

BIG numbers of public service  workers are on strike today,  Tuesday,  in a protest against the Government's proposed cuts in pay for puplic  sector staff in the coming budget.

 

Key services at St Luke's General Hospital, Kilkenny, are to be covered by a skeleton staff who plan to ensure that there is no hardship  for patients.

 

Meanwhile the rain continued to pour down over Kilkenny last night  as land in many parts of the city and county is submerged under water and some areas are still hit by road flooding.
