RAIN and a rising wind are playing havoc with sports fixtures in Kilkenny. Gone with the wind all are schoolboy soccer games and youths games scheduled for Kilkenny today, Saturday.

Mother nature has  also put a halt to the gallop of horses at Gowran Park Races which have also been postponed.

And  tommorrow, Sunday, junior soccer games in Kilkenny are also in trouble. Gone are all but three matches. Thomastown United have switched their game against New Ross Celtic to an all-weather pitch at Scanlon Park while Fort Rangers are still holding  out   hope of playing their game.

Evergreen 'A' are scheduled to play their sister club Evergreen 46 at the club's Kells Road grounds. That game is still alive as the pitch is playable today, Saturday but tomorrow's dangerous winds could put paid to that.

Kilkenny Alive will keep readers posted.

Meanwhile GAA games scheduled for Saturday and Sunday have all been postponed.
