Trio gave 102 years to local soccer

A TRIO of soccer officials who between them have given 102 years to the local game, are to retire together shortly.

The Dooley brothers Matt and Liam have both been with Ormondevilla FC as players and officials for a combined total of 74 years. Their club colleague, Ger Murphy has been with the club for 28 years.

The three have now decided to blow the whistle on their amateur soccer years. Tributes will be paid to them at a party evening in their honour at Troysgate Bar on Saturday, December 5.

A retirement night is being organised by the Ormondevilla Club and many faces from local soccer over the years, including members of other clubs and officials of the Kilkenny & District League are expected to attend.

The party begins at 9.30pm.
